Always Smile

She smiles…she always smiles.
Covering up the hurt the world has handed her on a sliver platter.
They say “nothing comes easy”-but pain always comes her way
She ducks, she runs, she screams, she cries-but she can’t hide.
She thinks of how she was put here for every boy to break her heart
To see how much the heart could endure…
How much she could take before she’ll wither down and break.
So I smile…I always smile.

(Another old one.)

Sonnet written in 10th grade…

All of my misery would be well spent
If I knew you were crying at night too
I couldn't imagine where our love went
I don't know how you could leave me so blue

I'll sit home and wonder how you could leave
How did you get to mean so much to me?
I was too blind to see; I was naive
I don't know why you couldn't let me be

I can't believe all you have put me through
How you made me smile and now I cry
All this time I never stopped loving you
Even on the day when we said goodbye

Now the memories won't let me forget
the simple touch of when me and you met
